Event Description

The countdown has begun to the 3rd Annual "Countdown to Midnight 2007," a New Year's Eve celebration for all ages in the Greater Victoria region. Last year, the alcohol-free event attracted more than 500 children, youth, adults and seniors for an evening of dancing, music, games, crafts and more.

This year's event at the Pearkes Recreation Centre will feature live music by the Vic High R&B Band and the Njiva Marimba Band. Children of all ages can make party hats at the crafts centre and then burn off some energy in the children's activity area. There will be a special children's countdown at 10:30 p.m. for families who prefer to leave early. The music will continue until midnight when the New Year will be celebrated with a balloon drop.
