PAPERMOON - Hailing from Winnipeg, Endearing Records artist PaperMoon bring their gorgeous, expansive melodies to Vancouver to celebrate the release of their new CD this special evening, joined by their friends Dawntreader, Cinderpop & Stephen Hedley! Paper Moon specialize in blending soft jangle with tight drumming and wistful singing into wonderfully atmospheric indie pop. With killer tunes that are poppy, sweet and catchy as hell, "they know how to construct song after song loaded with melodic hooks and angelic vocals" (Pop Matters). Their debut CD hit #5 on the Canadian Campus Top 50 and the band has toured extensively across Canada, playing packed showcases at Pop Montreal, Halifax Pop Explosion, NXNE and Berlin's Popkomm among others. Paper Moon songs have been featured in over 20 films and TV shows including Party of Five, Queer As Folk, Radio Free Roscoe and Falcon Beach.
DAWNTREADER - Providing a fresh and hopeful sound to Vancouvers music scene, Dawntreader endeavors to reach a level of musicianship, songwriting and production that is seldom seen in independent rock acts. Their focus has always been on crafting dynamic, authentic, emotionally-charged songs that will resonate with listeners while traversing a variety of sonic terrain, from propulsive beats and grinding guitars to dark, cinematic open skies with dreamy atmospheric passages and hypnotic melodies. Dawntreader fuses sophisticated influences into an original sound of unbridled sincerity and ambition that's been garnering considerable buzz.
CINDERPOP play inventive, harmony-drenched, guitar-driven songs that range from orch-pop and space rock to bouncy Beatlesque powerpop. Featuring alumni of The Salteens, Moev & SK Robot, their eclectic sound combines free-floating vocals with dreamy melodies and pulsing guitars to great effect. STEPHEN HEDLEY has attracted an ever-growing fanbase with his intense, genre-bending live performances. Crafting timeless, melodic pop songs that defy easy comparisons, his effortlessly soulful vocal style and guitar playing incorporate elements of blues, rock, jazz and folk. With an intuitive sense of melody and an ability to bring together diverse influences ranging from Neil Young and Jeff Buckley to U2 and Otis Redding, his songs are immediately gratifying and can be returned to time and time again.
