Event Description
On Sunday March 13, 2016, renowned violinist Moshe Hammer will delight a small audience with a private performance accompanied by Victoria's own critically acclaimed Lorraine Min on piano.
This private performance is a benefit event to raise funds for two charitable music organizations: The Civic Orchestra of Victoria and Moshe's Hammer Band.
Each $150 ticket includes a Charitable Donation receipt for $100, a ticket to the event, and two complimentary drink tickets.
Cocktails and canapés will be served throughout the evening. Guests will have the opportunity to meet and greet Moshe in addition to experiencing an incredible live performance by two world class musicians in an intimate setting.

The Hammer Band – From Violence to Violins is a small non-profit organization that started in 2006, as renowned violinist’s Moshe Hammer’s response to Toronto’s tragic summer of the gun. Believing in the power of music and music instruction to help kids change their tune, he walked into a public school in the Jane/Finch corridor and offered to teach there. Today, with five other professional musicians, The Hammer Band is in 35 schools reaching more than 700 children in grades four through high-school. http://thehammerband.com/
Moshe Hammer is a world-renowned violinist and teacher admired for his artistic style, unique interpretations and vibrant tone. He has traveled the world enthralling audiences as a soloist and chamber musician. Born in the ruins of Budapest, Hungary after Wolrd War II, Moshe and his family traveled to the new country of Israel as refugees. There, as Israel was struggling to build itself in a troubled region of the world, young Moshe established himself as an award-winning violinist.

Lorraine Min is a critically acclaimed pianist and Steinway Artist who has dazzled audiences internationally with her poetic artistry and brilliant virtuosity. Min has performed solo recitals and made concerto appearances in some of the world's most important concert halls. Born in Victoria and raised in Vancouver, Min earner her Bachelor degree at the Peabody Institute of John Hopkins University, and received her Masters and Doctoral degrees from the Juilliard School. http://www.lorrainemin.com/
The Civic Orchestra of Victoria is a local non-profit organization dedicated to providing an opportunity for musicians of varying ages and abilities to perform a wide repertoire of orchestral music for supportive audiences in the Victoria region. The orchestra serves as a platform for aspiring soloists and for choral groups, both as a learning experience and for the enjoyment of its members.
