Event Description
The Sidney and Peninsula Literary Society will host it’s first author reading of 2024 at the SHOAL Centre in Sidney on Friday, February 23 at 7 pm. Authors John Adams and Gail Kirkpatrick will be discussing and reading from their latest books.
John Adams, well-known local historian, is the author of seven books. His most recent is Chinese Victoria: A Long and Difficult Journey, published in 2022. It is the recipient of awards from the BC Historical Federation, the Chinese Canadian Historical Society of BC and the Hallmark Heritage Society. In addition to writing, John has had a career in the field of museums and heritage sites that has spanned more than fifty years in Ontario and British Columbia.
After receiving her undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria, Gail Kirkpatrick completed her M.A. in writing at Lancaster University where she explored the parallel and converging lines of memory, shared history, and landscape. Her writing has been published in various literary and trade magazines in Canada and the UK, and Sleepers and Ties is her first novel. She currently resides in Victoria, BC.
